August 24, 2015Cristin is absolutely thrilled to be hitting the road for most of Fall 2015 in support of the paperback release of her New York Times Best Selling book, DR MUTTER’S MARVELS. She will be giving talks and readings in Philadelphia, Chicago, Baltimore, Washington DC, Newark, Brooklyn, Boston, Columbus (OH), Atlanta, Portland, Seattle, Cleveland and Austin, among others! DR MUTTER’S MARVELS Official Paperback Release at the Mütter Museum
Where else to launch the paperback book than at the museum where it all began: The Mutter Museum! Aptowicz will be in conversation with Thomas Jefferson University head archivist F. Michael Angelo about Mütter’s role as an outlier and game-changer in early 19th century medicine. This lively presentation will include numerous illustrations and specimens—both from the Mutter Museum’s own collection and from the archive of Thomas Jefferson University, where Mutter taught and served as Chair of Surgery for a decade and half. Wine & Chesse will be served, and the event will be followed by a signing!

In celebration of the paperback release of the New York Times best selling nonfiction book Dr Mütter’s Marvels, author Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz returns to the Morbid Anatomy Museum for a conversation about life, death and writing with writer / director / actress Amber Tamblyn, author of the recently released Dark Sparkler. Aptowicz and Tamblyn will discuss the good, the bad and the unsettling of researching and writing about suffering, illness and death, and what lessons they have learned — as writers and as human beings — in writing and releasing their books.
