In honor of National Poetry Month, the Strand Book Store and BUST Magazine are proud to present an evening of spoken word featuring some of the country’s top female performance poets. Cristin (a BUST writer) will host the reading, which will feature electrifying performances by Cristin, National Book Award nominee Patricia Smith (“Blood Dazzler”), Golden Globe nominee Amber Tamblyn (“Bang Ditto”) and Women of the World Poetry Slam champion Rachel McKibbens (“Pink Elephant”). Cristin served as Poet-In-Residence at Culver Academy from April 15 thru April 19, a prestigious boarding school located in Culver, Indiana. Cristin taught 6 ninety-minute humanities classes in poetry, and performed both in their Friday Night “Relay for Life” activities and their Saturday Night “Poetry Jam.”

Cristin’s poem “A Short History of Unusual Fish” was chosen as a finalist in the 2009 Best of the Net competition, alongside poems by poets like Sherman Alexie, Bob Hicok, Major Jackson, W.S. Cristin & Shappy will be joining her writer pals Daniel Nester, Richard Eion Nash and Guy LeCharles Gonzalez in Albany NY at the first ever Empire Stage Book Festival. Cristin will be signing her two latest books, and will be hosting their first ever slam happening at on Saturday afternoon.
