Cristin lecturing on Thomas Dent Mutter at Haverford

Posted on February 11, 2015

From Haverford website: “Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz, celebrated poet and author, has made her mark again as a New York Times best-selling author with her second non-fiction book, Dr. Mutter’s Marvels: A True Tale of Intrigue and Innovation at the Dawn of Modern Medicine. A Philadelphia native, in 2010 she was awarded the ArtsEdge Writer-in-Residency at the University of Pennsylvania to spend a year doing research for a biography of Thomas Dent Mutter, the humane and innovative nineteenth-century surgeon at Thomas Jefferson who founded Philadelphia’s Mutter Museum. Drawn to her subject from her early years visiting the Mutter Museum as student at Central High, Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz spins an engrossing tale that is hard to stop reading.” Lecture & reading will take place on February 11, 4:30PM–6:00PM, at the Stokes Auditorium at Haverford.
