Cristin is thrilled the keynote talk of The Friends of the Texas Medical Center Library’s annual book and author fundraising event on Friday, September 9, at the TMC Library, 1133 John Freeman Blvd. From the event website: “The event will take place from 7:00 until 9:30 pm and will feature an illustrated lecture by Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz, author of Dr. Mütter’s Marvels. Ms. Aptowicz will shine a spotlight on the good, the bad and grotesque of 19th century medicine and on the life of Thomas Dent Mütter, a brilliant, flamboyant surgeon who specialized in performing radical reconstructive surgery of the severely deformed in a time before anesthesia.
