Cristin’s book, Hot Teen Slut is reviewed on BookSlut
In her BookSlut column Sticky Pages, reviewer Melissa Lion called Cristin’s poetry collection Hot Teen Slut, “the greatest book of poetry ever written.” She continues by writing: “It’s funny and I understand the poems. They have a beginning, a middle, and an end. The language is linear and clear and I don’t need to stare at a blank wall trying to muddle through a meaning, if there is one, or fight my need for a meaning if it’s postmodern. And the poems are all about sex.” To read the full review, check out the BookSlut column here.

Author/slam poet (and Philly-native) Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz will explore the birth, growing pains and continuing development of this raucous poetry event, which has been called “a pop culture phenomenon” (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times), “the death of Art” (Harold Bloom, Paris Review) and has been blamed for making “poetry sexy again in a way it hasn’t been since the heyday of the Beats” (Stephen Holden, The New York Times). In addition to walking the audience through the Poetry Slam’s atonishing twenty year history, Cristin will be joined by four New York City slam poets — Shappy Seasholtz, Edward Garcia, Nicole Homer and Chad Anderson — who will illustrate the variety of work found in the slam, including comedic pieces, political pieces and electrifying group work.” For more information on the reading, please check out the Kelly Writers House website here or RVSP at the Facebook Events page here.
