Cristin & Shappy Book Release at Quimbys
Cristin & Shappy are thrilled to be celebrating their latest book — Cristin’s Everything is Everything and Shappy’s latest chapbook, This Is All I Can Offer You — at Shappy’s old place of employment, Quimbys. Cristin to host Vox Ferus “Getting Ink” workshop
From the Vox Ferus mailing: “Are you interested in getting your poetry published in magazines, journals, and the like? Vox Ferus is proud to partner with Cristin O’Keefe Aptowicz to offer a workshop designed to help you get your work out into the world in print. Topics discussed will include research resources and techniques, cover letter development, and how to select poems for submission. Poets working in all styles are welcome, including humorous work, traditional forms, performance-focused writing, and more. Cristin to perform with Shappy at his Green Mill B-Day feature
Cristin is happy to help Shappy celebrate his big 4-1 at the birthday place of the Poetry Slam, the Green Mill lounge in Chicago. Poetry Slam creator Marc Smith will helm the evening, and Cristin will be performing solo, as well as doing some of her & Shap’s duets. Cristin’s poem “Choke” is Poem of the Day on Verse Daily
Cristin was thrilled to hear that her poem “Choke” (which can be found in Everything is Everything) was selected as the Poem of the Day on the popular website, Verse Daily. Cristin announced as U.S. Spoken Word Editor for 30th Anniversary Issue of Australian Literary Journal
Cristin is very pleased to be named the U.S. Spoken Word Editor for the fantastic Australian literary journal, Going Down Swinging. Cristin will join other poets from GDS’s global community “to select their favourite works from their area, for the two spoken word CDs” to be included with the anniversary issue. The other poets are David Prater (Europe), Ian Daley (UK), Sally McIntyre (NZ/Asia Pacific) and Ian Ferrier (Canada). Please check out the announcement here.

Cristin to perform at Mahogany Browne’s Bklyn Bookstore Basement Readings series
Cristin is thrilled to be performing along side of some of Penmanship Books best poets at Penmanship Books founder Mahogany Browne’s Bklyn Bookstore Basement Reading at Unnameable Books (600 Vanderbilt Ave., bet. Prospect Pl./. St. Marks Ave; 2,3 Train to Grand Army Plaza or D/Q Train to 7th Ave). The FREE show will be hosted by Mahogany Browne, and will feature performances by Cristin as well as Jive Poetic and Tracy Soren. Cristin announced as new columnist for the Barrelhouse blog
Cristin is happy to announce that she will be a new weekly columnist for the Barrelhouse, a fantastic lit journal filled with dark humor, sharp writing and pop culture. Cristin’s column, “This Week In Kitsch,” will begin on Sunday February 14, 2010, and will strive to interpret the week’s events into one wonderfully kitschy popular item, either from her & her partner Shappy’s collection, or from the collection of fellow collector-writers in her community.
