Mütter short film premiers at the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia
A short film based on Cristin’s script, Mütter, and directed by Philadelphia filmmaker Eugene Martin, will premier at Philadelphia’s infamous Mutter Museum . The Mutter Museum was founded by Thomas Dent Mutter, the protaganist of Cristin’s script, and was also where Cristin spent most of her time researching for the script. The premier, which is open to the public, starts at 8:30pm.
Cristin Published in Two Acclaimed Australian Literary Journals
With Melbourne-based release parties within days of one another, Cristin is very proud to now be a part of two Australia’s most accomplished literary journals. One of her poems her found poems from her days working in porn was published in swingers themed issue of the fabulous journal, “Going Down Swinging” edited by a couple of her brilliant aussie pals, Adam Ford, Alicia Sometimes, Stephen Grimwade and Anna Hedigan (see pics of Adam and Alicia here). Simutaneously, Cristin’s poem “Lit” (to hear an audio file of this poem, please check it out here) was published in one of the most exceptionally inspired lit mags being published today, “Voiceworks”. This literary magazine is dedicated to publishing the work of young Australian artists, with an ‘up-to-age-25′ cut off limit. Cristin barely squeeked in there. Cristin’s work is featured in their “D.I.Y.” issue, which Cristin refers to as “one of the most youth-artist-empowering literature [she] has ever read!”
Cristin returns to Melbourne, Australia, to perform at the Gasworks Art Complex
From Oct 26 to Nov 2, Cristin returns to her Australian home away from home, the Gasworks Art Complex in Melbourne, Australia for a one night only performance. In addition to performing and a possible workshop at Gasworks, Cristin will also be performing at venues across the city including the infamous Babble Reading Series at Fitzroy’s Bar Open and at the Halloween night book launch of the works of brilliant Melbourne poet Sean Whelan.
Cristin makes her Sydney Opera House premiere in “Mouth Off!!”
Three long weeks of work of workshopping and rehearsals pay off at the Sydney Opera House premiere of “Mouth Off!!!” After it’s premiere, the show will continue its weeklong run (Oct 21 – Oct 25), which will include two matinees for high school students.
Cristin continues workshopping “Mouth Off!!” for Sydney, Australia’s noise Fest
From Oct 7 through Oct 20, continuing work she started at the National Young Writers Festival, Cristin will continuing workshopping 6 of Australia’s best poets between the ages of 18 – 25 in creating a show, “Mouth Off!!” which will run for a week at the Sydney Opera House. Helping her with this endeavor is will be fellow mentor and aussie native, Morgan Lewis.
Cristin to participate in the National Young Writers Festival / This is Not Art Festival in Newcastle, Australia
From Oct 2 through Oct 6th, in association with her work with the noise fest and the Sydney Opera House, Cristin has been asked to participate in the 2003 National Young Writers Festival / This Is Not Art Festival ! In addition to performing in the multi-media showcase, Cristin will also be on several panels and will be hosting the Going Down Swinging Open mic with her bad ass aussie pal Adam Ford. Short Film of Mütter Shot in Philadelphia
As a part of her prize package for winning the Philadelphia Film Festival’s script competition, a short film inspired by Cristin’s film, Mütter, will be shot on location in historical Philadelphia and the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia. The short, directed by Philly native and Sundance wunderkind Eugene Martin, will be used to help pitch the scripts when Cristin goes to LA for meetings in early November. Cristin to compete in the 2003 Chicago National Poetry Slam
Cristin will be competing with her fellow NYC Urbana team members, Celena Glenn, Post-Midnight and Shawn Randall, throughout the week in Chicago’s Wicker Park Area. For more information and directions, please see the National Poetry Slam website (Aug 5 – Aug 9) at http://www.nps2003.com.
Cristin Tours the San Francisco Bay Area
In an effort to interview as many bay area poets for her “Oral History of the Poetry Slam” book as possible, Cristin spent a week touring around the amazing Bay Area. Highlights include featuring at the San Jose Finals, which took place at the San Jose Art Museum (6.13.03), and being a featured performer at the Beth Lisick’s Gaslight Storytelling series (6.16.03).
Cristin makes NYC-Urbana’s 2003 National Poetry Slam Team
Giving hope to alternates across the country, Cristin has been moved from 2003 alternate to the 2003 team member second time in three years. She will join fellow 2003 NYC Urbana team members, Celena Glenn, Post-Midnight and Shawn Randall as we defend our 2002 National Poetry Slam Co-Championship title this August in Chicago.
