Cristin Hosts Sexiest White Male Poet Reading

Cristin hosts the “Sexiest White Male Writer ALIVE! Reading,” a tongue-in-cheek riff off of the Cute Boy Slam which Urbana hosts annually. The event has a startlingly good line-up, including performances by Derrick Brown, Jeffrey McDaniel, Michael Cirelli, Sweet D and Rives, all vying for the “title.” Doors open at the BPC at 7pm. Cristin Co-Hosts 7th Annual Urbana Cute Boy Slam

It was August 1998 when God gave Amanda Nazario the idea of the Cute Boy Slam, the popular annual competition which challenges cute boys to read cute poems in a cute way or ELSE, and this year Cristin and Amanda will host the 2006 incarnation. Drop by the Bowery Poetry Club on Thursday, April 13, at 7pm to soak in all the adorable goodness as well as catch two-time National Slam Champion feature poet, Mike McGee. Cristin’s Article on the Sloan Film Summit is Published on the Museum of the Moving Image’s Sloan Science Cinematheque site

Last October, Cristin participated in the Sloan Film Summit brought together Sloan Fellows (Cristin script Mutter won a Sloan Fellowship in 2004 at the Hampton’s International Film Festival) for several days of screenings, readings and networking. Later in the year, the Museum of the Moving Image commissioned Cristin to write an article about her experiences at the Summit, and the end product can be found on the Sloan Science Cinematheque site here. Cristin’s “Snips for Tips” Returns for the BPC’s “Pisces Party” / Shappy’s B-day Party

Cristin will be chopping heads at the BPC’s “Pisces Party,” which celebrates the many Feb and March birthdays of the BPC Staff — of which, Shappy is one (2/28)! The show will most likely feature the Brief View of the Hudson, the New York Howl, Matt Lydon, Andy Friedman plus SHAPPY AND THE FAMILY SHAP! Plus, excellent new haircuts by Cristin herself! In 2004, Cristin and her Nerd Thug pal Aaron Myers traveled to Dartmouth College to host that school’s first ever Poetry Slam. Aaron, fresh from his work on the Edwards Presidential campaign and about to accept a position with Kerry campaign, decided to film their trip. Cristin to host 2006 Individual World Poetry Slam Championship Finals

This will be Cristin’s third time hosting a National Poetry Slam Finals, but her first time hosting the Individual World Poetry Slam (iWPS), being held this year in Charlotte, North Carolina. Asked for keep her hosting gig as a secret, Cristin flew in early Saturday morning, and joined an all female Finals staff — a first in Poetry Slam history!
